The more the world around me accelerates the more I feel the need to slow down, to take time.
Tony Carlon is a contemporary artist, working in Sydney and Bellingen NSW. His work comprises of three mediums; painting, sculpting and assemblage. After a successful professional career as a Designer and Art Director spanning three decades, Tony in recent years has turned his creative attention to focus on producing his own original and emotive artworks that invite the viewer to stop for a moment and take a second glance.
Through my work I have discovered a place where time almost stands still and images keep moving. The process is pretty simple, I do what a lot of folks would call day-dreaming – something catches my attention and I am gone. An everyday scene or object, familiar at first, then abstracted by motion or a play of light and often, before I know it, something altogether different emerges.
The subjects choose me not the other way around. If you have ever lain on the grass and enjoyed watching the clouds create pictures in the sky that’s pretty much how the world looks to me and it’s the essence of what I hope to capture and share in my work.
