‘Everything Begins in Spring’ is the first in a quartet of upcoming exhibitions to be held at Gaffa Gallery, each of which is based around a different season. Andrew Ensor is a Sydney based artist and a regular at Gaffa Gallery, this is his 30th solo exhibition.
Seasons are filters
Through which we experience
Our entire world
Spring is a symbol of rebirth and renewal, so in that spirit I went back through old drawings and half-finished ideas looking for a way to build something new. Butterflies were one of my earliest visual themes when I was first exhibiting, so it felt like a good fit to revive that motif here in a new way. I wanted the work to capture the explosive exuberance of nature in bloom.
