Body is a sign. The sign has a form. The form has a message. My body creates the message. I am the solo carrier of this message. It is my statement – and in its authenticity it is pure. There are no identical bodies as there are no identical messages. The meaning created by my body cannot be reproduced, so it cannot be appropriated. My body speaks without a breach of continuity as long as the body breaths and moves, it speaks faithfully.
Letter is a form, the form has a body, and the body is the letter. The sign is created for the Other to read it. The meaning that the Other finds in the sign depends on the Other’s reading of it. A Word can be created in unification of unique selves.
A Czech artist and writer, Karel Teige, researched how a female body is pliable into a sign and how a sign arises in a female body. Teige’s Abeceda (1926) investigates the connection between the Western alphanumeric code and images. This exhibition of works of visual arts, multimedia, performance and poetry is a response to Teige’s work in the contemporary reality with new codes that articulate new imagination powered by computed and digitally modified images, and adopts a participatory approach to create new messages.
