Six artists, a bunch of camels and two guides were placed into the environment of the Flinders Ranges, South Australia. An expansive and beautiful landscape with its own story including the rich geology, mining history, flora and fauna.

INFORMATION

Each artist has individually processed the experience of living in the bush, sleeping in swag, walking with camels and being free from much of 21st century technology for five days in April 2017.

“In Camels’ Footsteps” highlights experimental and innovative creative practice in art through the artists response to the experience of the camel trek. There is an awareness of the intersection between Art, Nature, Science and History, synergy between artists sharing a common experience, pushing boundaries within artistic creative practice through working outside of their comfort zone and heightened awareness of changes in the environment and the direct human relationship to such changes.
