This collection of works explores the artist's fascination in the history and culture of mankind.

 

Presenting the primitive form of humans in a confronting yet colourful depiction, the series represents the quest for a bare identity, deriving from socio economic factors in life's challenge for survival.

BIO

Antonia Mavrocordatos is a contemporary artist. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia in the 80's, she is of Greek descent.

Her early fascination and curiosity for the world of colours along with her relentless search for the new, found inspiration for her art of painting. Antonia studied Art at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney.

Her abstract neo- expressive compositions derived from her style that is an expression of society and the world we are living in, presented through pop, deconstruction and recreation. The distinguishing features of her neo- expressionistic work are characterised by a large scale implementation and striking image composition in an expressive colour palette. She is a pop- artist in the third generation.
