The series New World is a collection of images taken in and around the Tehachapi Pass wind farm in California during a road trip from Los Angeles to San Fransisco.

INFORMATION

Katrina Lezaic is a practicing photographer and conceptual artist based in Sydney. Having studied fine art in Sydney, Katrina discovered her love of stills photography when she was given a 1920s Yashica and began taking family portraits. With over 10 years of experience in reportage, herwork merges elements of fiction, fantasy, performance and documentary in its ongoing investigation of the increasingly blurred boundaries between the private and the public, the voyeuristic and theatrical.

Lezaic had her first solo show in October 2017 at Bondi Pavilion Gallery with an exhibition of a series of photographic stills from a Super 8 family home video shot in the 1970s.

She more recently had a pop-up showing at Bondi Pavilion where she exhibited her New Worldseries at the screening of A Mighty Force, a documentary capturing the power and passion of people taking extraordinary action to stop Adani from building one of the biggest coal mines in the world in remote central Queensland.

The seriesNew World is a collection ofimages taken in and around the Tehachapi Pass wind farm in California during a road trip from Los Angeles to San Fransisco. They were snapped on an iPhone at dawn and capture a drought stricken landscape that resonates with a quiet intensity.

The works speak to the battle with climate change and act as an urgent reminder that we have perhaps reached the point of no return and the legacy we are now leaving for generations to come.
