A collection of torn thresholds and exhausted incantations by abstractionists Jo Nolan & Adam Gottlieb

INFORMATION

It is within the liminal space, the quivering moment glimpsed between paradox, where the destructive spark of genesis is heralded.

Works arise through reverence, a willful surrender to the demands of material and the illusive wisdom of consequence.

Processes of layering and distorting, augmenting and fragmenting are forgotten rites and attempted liturgies.

Burning, tearing, pouring and weathering; ritual invocations that attempt to draw out unforeseen qualities and inner vitalities.

Refuge is taken in the resonance of origin, in brush and broken residue, in skin and sap and shell, sediment and sanguine, in the intimacy of shadows, and the restless touch of decay.

It is a hope of communion, a dance of dissolution and exaltation, creatio ex nihilo, a homage to both the cage and the key.
