'‍Through this series, I hope to invoke these sentiments as well as evoke reflection and empathy within my audience for their own family.'

INFORMATION

Artist Statement:

Dearest is a series of still life paintings portraying letters sent between past and present family members, from 1921 to 1999. Through reading their own written words of affection, this series has become an insight into who they were.

They are painted with the love and care I hold for them, speaking to family and relationships through objects. I believe how we care for our loved ones is conveyed through how we care for their belongings.

Through this series, I hope to invoke these sentiments as well as evoke reflection and empathy within my audience for their own family.
