[Showcasing] current and developing works derived from themes and ideas related to “Indian Aesthetics” like Kamadhenu (worshipped as a heavenly cow), Ganesha (god of beginnings & remover of obstacles), Ulagalanda Perumal (lord who measured the Universe in 3 steps).
I am a professional artist working across a range of art forms including time-based, sculpture, paintings, drawings and Installation for over 40 years now. I have been known for my scratchy style technique in which I have been pioneering all these years.
It is in my character that under the Indian circumstances, I’ve deeply observed and studied 5,000 years of ancient art and culture, proudly absorbed them and created and experimented with modern media and unique techniques at a higher level in my artworks. A huge part of life is been exposed to Tamil Nadu’s folk art, Indian cave paintings, sculptures from Indian Temples, Indian Culture and emotion of humans around is one of the major reasons to impose my thoughts and create contemporary work of art.
Earlier series of works includes paintings and sculptures on Indian Folk art, Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa series, Buddha series, Indian Women series, emotional painting series, cave art series and time-based stage performances with music. I have exhibited all over the Nation, and internationally several times, and also worked as Artist in residence in Malaysia. While working, my curious nature to learn and study different culture and civilization forced me to create paintings on Malaysian Culture mixed with Indian Odissi dance gave birth to a successful series of artwork.
This exhibition will feature a series of work showcasing individual style of practice, my mastered contemporary and experimental approach to art making. I have decided to showcase current and developing works derived from themes and ideas related to “Indian Aesthetics” like Kamadhenu (worshipped as a heavenly cow), Ganesha (god of beginnings & remover of obstacles), Ulagalanda Perumal (lord who measured the Universe in 3 steps).
This theme aims to unite the works from my past into a dynamic yet integrated exhibition that explores all my concepts, style and techniques from the past. This exhibition will mostly have selected Indian contemporary paintings from few different concepts and styles quite unique to me and my practice.
