Emu Woman is the wife of Dharamulan, the ancestral creation being of the Gadigaland Sydney Basin area. She is a guardian of the ancient ceremonies that maintained balance and order in alignment with Gadigal Cosmology. Sydney born Gadigal, Yuin Wiradjuri Aboriginal Contemporary Artist Nadeena Dixon has created a body of new work to celebrate and acknowledge her Gadigal ancestral kinship, cultural practices and her peoples survival in spite of colonial brutality that endeavoured to erase First Nations peoples.
