Celebrating Sydney’s iconic architecture. The historical. The monumental. The beautiful.
We live our lives justifying our existence. We take part in endless debates about everything and nothing. We try and justify every action, every movement, every breath. Almost Everything finds its place inside why’s and the don’ts.
Why do we have tears? How come a smile can change a life? Why the night is black?
Today, a group of artists gather to celebrate the antithesis of justification. PorqueNo, meaning ‘Why Not’ is a stand against our desire to explore lines, shapes and colours. Explanation or validation of our ideas has no meaning. Everything is welcome. The absence of rationale and the desire to create are the engines that transform the space.
This year, the artist's leap into an exploration of architectural forms, each representing buildings in, and around Sydney through their own interpretation. Instinctive, passionate and always free from filters.
6 buildings, 13 artists and a collective body of 84 works, made only for this purpose, and onespace to share it. After all, why not?
