Empathy, a heightened state of awareness, a Meditative state and to slip into the void of consciousness. Each piece calls out to us using abstract imagery, discontinuous space, light and colour to reawaken our senses.

INFORMATION

The concept to ‘reawakenʼ is to evoke the senses through colour and form. These four paintings represent experiences of separate emotions. Empathy, a heightened state of awareness, a Meditative state and to slip into the void of consciousness. Each piece calls out to us using abstract imagery, discontinuous space, light and colour to reawaken our senses.

                                                       ...

It is the sense of relief and peace that comes from putting paint to canvas; the ability to almost disappear and reinvent himself that has propelled Brett into the art world. ‘I feel present when I paint, all my thoughts disappear and I immerse myself in communication with the painting.ʼ Brett is currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in Painting at The National Art School in Sydney. His previous exhibitions include high selling solo shows and corporate exhibitions in Cambridge, Brighton, London and Melbourne as well as finalist in Gosford Art Prize 2018 and 2nd place in the Blackbird Art Prize, along with participating in a string of group exhibitions throughout Australia and the UK. Brett has additionally worked on community, commercial and private mural projects both here and abroad. In his earlier years, Brett worked in advertising as a freelance Illustrator and Graphic Designer eventually breaking away from that to work as Scenic artist for the Sydney Theatre Co. His paintings and commissions are in demand by private collectors around the world and has been represented by Artspace International. Building confidence through painting with support from his loving family his desire has grown to complete his MFA and make his mark in the modern art world.
