There exists within us all a place of lawlessness, a void in which we can explore the inarticulate, the indefinable, the forbidden. Within those places,as real as they are unreal, we are our own gods, the architects of our own creation. And from this terrain, we gather materials with which we plaster the cracks of our flawed reality. Compulsively, inexorably, elaborately, we detail our visions until they gild our lives. A Kintsugi repair, golden, idiosyncratic, with a scarred and damaged elegance.
The works included in this exhibition are linked by a desire for each of us to connect tangible space with daydreaming, to transform ourselves from chronic fantasists to magicians, pulling materials from lawless and reasonless dimensions into this one.
Each of us with our own language and syntax of materials and mediums, we share an inexorable pull towards the anarchy within us, and a compulsive desire to manifest and expose it.

E. Armanious
E.Armanious is a Sydney based artist who has completed degrees in music and art, with a masters from SCA, and has studied informally with harpsichord builders, jewellers, painters and swordsmiths. E’s work has been exhibited around Australia, the U.S. and India, and has been published in a book of 500 handmade knives by Lark Books.
The current series “Libra Solidus Denarius (£.S.D.)” has been informed by collections accidentally acquired then obsessively cultivated. The nomadic nature of coins is the focus of the series, exploring the way they pass from hand to hand, pocket to pocket, for decades, even centuries, before eventually ending up in this collection. The pieces included in this series have become their own form of currency by creating unique amalgamations from different places and times. They highlight intricate and beautiful details on coins from all over the world while exploring a transformative perspective on collections, collecting and the collector.
Gabriel Yakub
This is Gabriel Yakub's first exhibition. He has completed a degree in communication with honours in social science. Gabriel has been playing with the way form influences content in his own practice, and how the relationship between sign and signifier shifts within different imaginative paradigms. Ultimately, Gabriel's interest rests in the way ideas can be lost, found and created within artistic spaces and ritual, and has up until now found his expression within film, storytelling and poetry.
Through photography and sculpture, his works in The Dogs of Reason – “The Time Terrarium” and “Urban Charms” - explore thresholds of the past, present and ultimately the imaginary.
“The Time Terrarium” attempts to capture the highest form of universal connection through nature and narrative, while “Urban Charms” attempts to capture modern magical thresholds that have profound effects on us and are yet taken very much for granted.
Lingxiao (Leon) Guan
L.Guan has a degree in sociology and philosophy, and has completed a Master of Social Work degree. All human behaviours, as well as the reasons behind the behaviours, attract him. His illustration style is greatly influenced by Japanese manga, and he is currently the illustrator of a children's book series.
In The Dogs of Reason, he has visualized random thoughts. These random thoughts come to people in their own world every day and every moment, formed by the thought holders’ knowledge, belief, lived experience, desire, etc. These unique thoughts can also escape quite easily. In this set of works, Leon presents some examples of his random thoughts, and it is open to the interpretation of everyone else’s random thoughts.
