An exhibition of artists’ books and prints by Megan Edwards and Trish Yates and textiles by Celia Wood.

INFORMATION

“Unfolding” not only refers to the physical book but also to the many layers of meaning within. There is mystery in a closed book which is gradually revealed in the viewing. An artists’ book is a journey of discovery for the maker and the viewer.

Megan Edwards and Trish Yates have gone on that journey.There has been an unfolding of ideas, expression and responses to the world around them articulated in a book format.

Relief and Intaglio printmaking techniques are used by both to express their ideas.

The themes that Trish employs revolve strongly around landscape and the natural environment inspired in particular by her love of Sydney’s local bushland and her travels around Australia.

Megan’s work explores two disparate themes: the frailty of our natural environment with a particular focus on the devastation caused by fire and the complexities of fabric: its textures, patterning and cultural values.

Celia Wood uses cloth that has been in others’ hands,folded and unfolded. It has a story. It’s been worn and used. Celia takes that cloth on a new journey as she repurposes it, creating exquisite textile artworks.
